Warangal: A tense situation occurred Saturday in the Gurnibavi Village in Duggondi Mandal, with conflicts between BRS and Congress workers during the Komala Jatara celebrations.
The dispute stems from the competition of the “Prabha Bandlu” parade, a traditional chariot exhibition that forms part of the festival. When both sides compete for prominentness, tensions erupt, causing intense exchanges to escalate into physical confrontation.
Things worsened when BRS national leader and former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy accused congressional workers of sabotaging the event. As the conflict intensified, the police resorted to Lasi-the person in charge came to disperse the crowd.
Sudarshan Reddy, dissatisfied with police movements, held protests on the road, accusing police of unfairly targeting BRS workers while at the same time as the ruling Congress. He also criticized the state government for using force from opposition leaders, further escalating political tensions in the region.
Meanwhile, rumors circulated on social media and news media, claiming that police had fired guns to control the crowd. However, Warangal Police Commissioner Sun Preet Singh issued a clarification, stating that no shot was fired, and that this situation involved only minor clashes between the police and the parade. He assured that the situation was under control and warned against misinformation, announcing that legal action would be taken against those who made false reports.
