Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar exudes confidence that Congress will win 10 of the total 13 seats in the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in the next state parliamentary elections expected to be held in 2028.
The Chairman of the Karnataka Congress Committee (KPCC) addressed parliamentary workers at a party convention held in Guruvayanakere, who recently conducted an investigation in the twin districts, which shows that the party has restored glory in both districts.
“Parliament will also regain the seat in the Belthangady parliament,” Mr Shivakumar said.
The KPCC chairman said he was confident that voters would vote based on their conscience in the next parliamentary elections in both regions.
The Twins area was once a powerful castle for Congress. In the 2013 parliamentary elections, the party won 10 seats in both regions. He added that the same will be repeated in the next election.
The KPCC president said Congress learned lessons after losing a seat in the last congressional election in the coastal belt. When asking the Party’s workers to win people’s confidence under the five guarantee schemes, he said workers should not lose confidence in the face of the next election.
“When Congress established and shaped people’s lives, others (hit in the BJP) played a role with people’s feelings,” the deputy chief minister said.
He told the workers: “No one is politically permanent. You should live in hope.”
Local body polls
The Deputy Chief Minister said elections to local agencies in the state could be announced at any time and that party workers were asked to prepare for this.
The KPCC chairman asked workers to add at least 10 new members to each booth. Mr Shivakumar said: “Even if they are BJP voters, don’t hesitate, even if they are BJP voters, get close to people. People make decisions based on what prevails at each election (in support of all parties).
The KPCC president claims that if Congress wins the election, it means that people in all sectors have equal opportunities.
