Karnataka’s Congress government hit the two period landmarks on Tuesday. During the two years, the government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, traveled on the track of the social welfare agenda, received bouquets but also saw a lot of controversy.
To commemorate the day, the Party and the Government have decided to hold the “Sadhana Samavesha” (Achievement’ Rally) on May 20 in Hosapete, the newly engraved Vijayanagara district. The event was considered a “guaranteed rally” as the government spent Rs 80,000 on five guarantee schemes, which was a “guaranteed rally”.
Record budget
Mr. Siddaramaiah proposed a record 16th state budget in March 2025, and he will serve as Chief Minister for seven years. He hopes to break the record of D. Devaraj Urs, who served the longest time in Karnataka (2,790 days or seven years and seven months).
Unlike his first term as Chief Minister, Mr. Sidalamaya’s second term has been warned by the senior party commander – whether it was holding rally, some ministers’ dinners, or his remarks about India’s strike against Pakistan, as 26 tourists were killed in Pahalgam.
Mr. Sida Lamaiya visited the national capital several times over the past two years, apparently in order to provide explanations for the party’s senior command on several issues, including his role in the alleged illegal allocation of 14 locations in the Mysuru Urban Development International (MUDA), to his wife BM Parvathi (BM Parvathi) (now surrendered). It is no exaggeration to say he is instructing with the party’s central leaders, especially AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and opposition leaders.
Mixed bags in polls
Two years of governance have been marked by positive and negative impacts. While the party has not secured the number of seats it hoped for in the state’s 2024 Lok Sabha elections, it has increased from one seat in 2019 to nine seats in 2024. It managed to win three legislative parliamentary seats in the federal government. The Chief Minister attributed the guarantee plan to the party’s victory.
In addition to holding the Global Investor Conference – In 2025, the government held a centenary celebration of the 1924 National Congress of India hosted by Mahatma Gandhi of Bellagarve to show that it is all good.
But given the financial burden of funding the five guarantee schemes, the government has been increasing taxes and prices for several essential items, including fuel, car registration and alcohol. Opposition BJP and JD(S) continue to raise the issue of price increases, and Congress continues to blame the center.
The government criticized the previous BJP regime for lacking commitments to decentralization of powers but unable to hold elections, including the city of Bangalore and local institutions. Like the previous BJP regime, the Congressional government was plagued by allegations of corruption.
Karnataka model
The Chief Minister often talks about the “Karnataka Development Model” with a focus on guarantees and how they can help poverty prices rise, but he is also considered national headlines for the wrong reasons. For example, among the vested interests of 48 of the people whom Cooperation Minister Kn Rajanna accused of vested interests, the political storm that broke out in the legislative session did not seem to have arrived well.
Although Mr. Siddaramaiah’s loyalists often make statements that he will complete the full semester for five years, Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC chief DK Shivakumar expressed his ambitions before the party’s high command commander. With many elderly people caring for themselves as ministers ambitions, the road ahead may not be smooth.
