Construction of bypass to reduce traffic congestion in Tirupatar town

The foundation was laid for road works, which will cover 14.35 km from the villages of Ratchamangalam and Damalerimuthur in Tirupattur.
A four-lane bypass was built between the villages of Ratchamangalam and Damalerimuthur in the town of Decongest Tirumadur-Singarapettai High Road.
Officials of the state's expressway said the purpose of the bypass was to provide an alternative route for long-distance travelers and commercial vehicles to places such as Damapuri, Salem, Tiruwanamalai and Balgar in the village of Damalerim.
A motorist S. Priya said: “The ambulance found it difficult to extend through the town’s narrowness to the nearest government hospital because the trucks used the same road to the Salem Vanibadi Expressway.
The bypass (14.35 km will be laid in two stages) will also help local motorists to use the Tirumattur-Singarapettai High Road to reach the town centre.
It will be built at least 3km-4km from the road to prevent commercial vehicles from entering town when they travel to other areas.
Currently, major stretchers have witnessed the continuous flow of heavy vehicles, resulting in traffic congestion and accidents on the route. “According to an estimated 14,000 cars travel through Tirupattur Town to Krishnagiri, Salem and Chennai. Work on the bypass will be completed in 2026,” KR Rajathi, assistant executive engineer at the State Highway (NABARD), told Hinduism.
The Rs 41.5 crore work includes funding on the Integrated Road Infrastructure Development Plan 2023-24, including 10m wide driveways, 1.2m wide median, sidewalks, LED street lights and high mast lights.
It will connect at least eight farming villages to the town of Tirupatar. It will also help the villages of Natrampalli, Jolarpet and Tirumattur Panchayat unions easily access major towns such as Abmur, Vaniyambadi and Vellore.
