Popular content creator Misha Agarwal killed herself on April 24 a few days before her 25th birthday. Her family confirmed the news through her Instagram account. Later, they revealed that Misha has been associated with the decline in her Instagram, which has made her anxious about her career.
According to her family, this fear caused her to fall into deep depression and ultimately led to her miserable decision. Misha’s family shared that she has focused her life around Instagram, and they strongly hope to attract a million followers. They revealed that the screen lock of her phone takes this goal as a constant reminder.
In a heartfelt statement: “My little sister built her own world around Instagram and her followers, one goal is to reach 1 million followers and gain loving followers. She became excited and felt worthless when her followers started to decrease. She has been frustrated since April, and she often hugged me and cried and said, ‘Jijjja, will I lower my career?
Her family remembered the ways they often tried to comfort her, telling her that Instagram was just a part of her life, not everything, and the setbacks there didn’t mean the end of the road.
“I reminded her of her talent, a bachelor’s degree in law and preparing for PCSJ, telling her that she will one day become a judge and don’t have to worry about her career,” the family’s official statement said.
They urged her to focus on her well-being and reminded her to give up on the stress and sadness that social media has brought to her life.
The statement further reads: “Unfortunately, my sister was not listening and was consumed by Instagram and her followers that she left our world forever. Sadly, she became so overwhelmed that she took her own life and destroyed our family.”
