Coonoor residents need to catch and relocate lazy bears

Coonoor residents have urged the Ministry of Forests to capture and relocate a lazy bear, which they claim has been breaking into the house for food.

According to residents of Hatherly Road, lazy bears have been breaking into homes, stealing food and attacking local residents. A resident of the area is from HinduThe animal also entered a couple’s house and attacked them, causing harm, said.

The bear also broke into shops near the area and stole food, residents said. Despite a cage placed in the area on Monday, it has so far managed to escape the capture they said.

When contacted with senior officials of the Nilgiris Forest Department, they were continuing to capture animals and were considering calming and transferring them to the area.
