Kerala High Court orders police to protect priests

The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the police to provide adequate protection for Father Tharian Njaliath to enable him to serve as pastor and trustee of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ernakulam.
Judge Bechu Kurian Thomas passed a petition by the pastor, a petition against the backdrop of ongoing disagreement over the actions of the holy masses.
According to the petitioners, protesters prevented believers from attending prayers and held other ceremonies such as baptism, communion, marriage, and even funerals. Some wrongdoing caused all kinds of mischiefs in and around the church, creating fear among believers. They even tried to manipulate petitioners late at night. The committee of the church trustee’s name was destroyed, and the unfortunate people were addicted to illegal activities within the church and its compound. The petitioner said no action was taken against his petition to seek police protection.
