Gavin Newsom gave leniency to 25 criminals, including four murderers

Gavin Newsom’s decision to pardon 16 criminals and awarded nine sentences, sparking intense anger.
The California governor signed the choice of 25 criminals with a series of astonishing crimes.
Among the criminals, four men were convicted of murder. Others were sentenced for possessing or handling illegal drugs.
Newsom’s commute does not mean that these prisoners will be released from prison immediately. They still have to argue why they should be released before the state’s parole hearing.
According to Newsom’s commuting order, one of the selected people was Jose Santos, who shot and killed a rival gang member in a Fontana party in 2003 and injured others in the process.
In 2006, Santos was sentenced to 42 years in life imprisonment by the San Bernardino High Court. Santos was 22 years old and 43 years old when the crime occurred.
Now, his minimum sentence is only half the minimum sentence, so he is considered “qualified for parole” due to the governor.
Newsom also guaranteed Santos, saying he showed positive behavior in prison and redefined his life as “healing and self-improvement.”
Newsom is a little cautious about Allan Krenitsky. Allan Krenitsky fatally shot a man in robbery of his home in 1988, and George Lucev paid a 17-year-old boy in 1983 to stab his lover’s husband.

Neither Krenitsky nor Lucev is likely to be parole. Newsom said in his order that both of them promised to improve themselves during their decades in prison.
But he stopped not recommending their immediate parole, nor did he advocate them as strongly as he did for Santos.
Newsom wrote extensively about Santos’ achievements, while following the prison, which included an associate’s degree and was praised by prison staff for their integrity, work ethics and reliability.
When Krenitsky and Lucev are indeed in front of the parole board, their life sentences may be restored if their petition is denied.
Newsom also commuted to Corey Fernandez’s verdict, who fought two of his friends in 2010. He shot Donnie Smith in the belly and defeated Arthur Vickers with the stock of the rifle.
Smith actually testified in court, trying to sentence Fernandez, Tell A judge from Yuba County Superior Court: “I don’t think he’s going to shoot me…I don’t think he should have done a lot of time if it helps anyone.”
Fernandez, 48, was sentenced to 34 years in life imprisonment for attempted murder. Newsom has determined that the 63-year-old is eligible to consider immediately after serving 14 years in prison.
Newsom also used his pardon power as governor to wipe the slate completely. Sithy Bin is a former CRIP member of the Attitude Gang and is one of the 25 felons pardoned.
