Plans to adopt Adityanath as PM candidate during Maha Kumbh: Akhilesh Yadav

Prayagraj: Samajwadi Party Chairman Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday suggested that during the recent Maha Kumbh, there were plans to rule Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as prime minister candidate and accused BJP leaders of holding political events. “They want to turn it into a political khumbu, not a religious person. It’s not a devotee’s khumbu, but for political purposes,” Yadav told reporters here.

“I heard that during Maha Kumbh, there was a plan to announce his (Adityanath) name as Prime Minister’s face.”

He also accused of serious mismanagement in Maha Kumbh 2025 here.
He claimed: “Have you ever seen a TV channel for interviews during Kumbh? This arrangement was made here. The whole mismanagement has caused a major imprint from the event organization.”

“In the future, you will understand better. A lot of things may not reach me, but you live here – you know the truth.”

The head of SP also said that the opposition Indian group will continue in the 2027 UP parliamentary elections. He attacked the BJP, accusing it of trying to capture the land like a mafia through the WAQF (Amendment) bill. Yadav said, “The PDA (backward, Dalit and Minority) will uproot the BJP in the 2027 General Assembly elections.

When asked about the Indian group, he reiterated that “the Indian coalition is (now) and will remain”, eliminating doubts about the fate of the coalition before the 2024 parliamentary elections.

“The BJP has brought the WAQF amendment so that it can take the land away. No matter where they see the land, they will occupy it.”

He accused the ruling party of “robbing” people’s money by eliminating monetization and GST and reducing reservations.

Yadav also promised to investigate Maha Kumbh’s “mismanagement” if his party comes to power in the 2027 election.

The SP chief claimed that the government provided inaccurate figures about casualties and financial gains during the event and claimed that drone and CCTV surveillance failed in the January stampede.

“When drones and CCTV are most needed (when trampling) they are either turned off or turned off,” he claimed.

Yadav also accused the government of imposing a cause of forced death on relatives of the victim’s stampede.

Regarding the controversial statements made by SP MP Ramji Lal Suman about Rana Sanga, Yadav said: “History manifests itself as superior and inferior to each other, and the history that prevents us from progressing should be allowed to remain.”

Yadav provided reporters with his advice on Prayagraj Maha Kumbh 2025, initially posted on social media and conducted a Harvard study on Prayagraj Kumbh Mela in 2013.

He attended the wedding of the daughter of SP State President Shyam Lal Pal in Prayagraj.
