Pathanamthitta’s CPI (M) regional secretary was reconstructed here on Monday.
Senior leader A. Padmakumar recently expressed dissatisfaction with the public’s exclusion from the National Commission, and he was excluded from the makeover secretariat. The new group includes Regional Secretary Raju Abraham, PB Harsh Kumar, R. SanalKumar, PR Prasad, PJ Ajayakumar, TD Baiju, Omallur Sankaran, Komalam Anirudhan and C. Radhakrishnan.
A new secretariat was selected at a meeting attended by CPI(M) Secretary of State MV Govindan and Central Committee members TM Thomas Isaac, CS Sujatha and Puthalath Dineshan.
Former district secretary KP Udayabhanu and senior leader Nirmala Devi both crossed the age limit for leadership positions in the party and have also been removed from the new group.
Mr Padmakumar, a senior CPI (M) leader from Aranmula, had appeared on social media and later expressed his dissatisfaction with being eliminated to the press, which surprised the party. The move has attracted internal attention despite subsequent deletion of social media posts.
After the intervention of senior leadership, Mr. Padmakumar softened his position, admitting that public protest was a mistake. The district secretary also hinted at the disciplinary action against him
