The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) said on Saturday that officers were fired for “covering up their marriage to Pakistani nationals.”

The CRPF said that “on issues of serious concern” Munir Ahmed, a police officer from the 41st battalion of CRPF, was dismissed because he covered up his marriage to a Pakistani national and worked immediately and deliberately hid in India during the visa period.

“It was found that his actions violated the conduct of service and were harmful to national security,” CRPF said.

Ahmed's wife, Minal Khan, is one of the list of Pakistani nationals, whose visa was revoked and left India before April 27 after the Pahalgam terrorist attack on April 22, 26 of whom were killed.

Mr. Ahmed seeks permission from CRPF in 2023 to marry Ms. Khan, a resident of Sialkot, Pakistan. However, the officer continued to marry her online on May 24, 2024, before CRPF could respond to his request. Later, another wedding ceremony was held in Jamu.

Mr. Ahmed's wife arrived in India in 2024 with a short-term visa expired on March 22.

When she was taken to the Attari Land port in Punjab, her husband moved to the Jamu and Kashmir High Court, which granted temporary deportation on April 29 until the written petition was disposed of. The next case is heard on May 14.
