Cyril Shroff AI, the Center for Legal and Regulatory is fast

Mumbai: In a groundbreaking development that puts India at the forefront of globally-related artificial intelligence (AI) (AI), Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Cyril Shroff and Op Jindal Global University have announced the establishment of Cyril Shroft AI, the AI, Law and Regulation Center for Sonipat, Hararyana’s Jindal Global Law School.

The centre was established with the generous support of Cyril Shroff, founder and managing partner of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, India’s leading law firm. The centre will be India’s first dedicated centre of excellence, focusing on the complex intersection of AI, laws, policies and regulations.

As a growing digital economy, India faces pressing challenges in addressing the ethical, legal and policy aspects of AI deployment. Cyril Shroff AI, the Center for Law and Regulation aims to address this urgent need by conducting rigorous research, fostering knowledge creation, shaping public policies and promoting capacity-building programs. The Centre will interact with legal bodies, think tanks, government agencies, intergovernmental organizations, companies and academia and establish a responsive AI governance framework in India and beyond.
The Center outlines 10 main goals that will guide its work. These include:

* Research and knowledge creation: cutting-edge research on AI regulation, ethics, governance and responsibility.

* Policy Development and Consultation: Provide expert policy advice to Indian and global regulators.

*AI and Law Course Development: Develop new curriculum on AI and law and provide executive education programs for legal professionals, policy makers and company leaders.

*Multi-stakeholder engagement: Collaborate and establish partnerships with industry, government, academia and civil society for AI governance.

*Global AI Governance and Ethics: Actively promote international discussions on AI law and work with organizations such as the OECD, UN, WTO, EU and G20 AI Program.

*AI and Human Rights: Investigate the impact of AI on fundamental rights, privacy, discrimination and prejudice, and propose an ethical AI regulatory framework.

*Legal Technology and AI Regulations: Study the role of AI in transforming legal practices, dispute resolution and judicial delivery, and explore AI-driven legal research, automation and contract management tools.

*Litigation, Responsibility and AI-driven Risks: Resolve emerging legal issues around AI accountability, product liability, autonomous systems and AI accidents.

*AI and Financial Regulations: Evaluate the impact of AI on banking, fintech, algorithmic trading and risk management and develop policy solutions for AI regulations in the financial and securities markets.

*Capacity building and public awareness: organize lectures, conferences and training programs and develop educational resources for wider public participation.

Mr. Cyril Shroff is a third-generation lawyer and has a career of more than forty years.
