Dalit man deprived, beaten, forced to go to Hyderabad

Police said Saturday that allegedly allegedly stripped and beaten men of a pre-determined caste have been registered against six people. A police officer said the incident occurred on March 26 in Petbasheerabad when the man in his 30s went to a defendant’s house to help resolve the marriage dispute.
However, the defendant, along with five of his relatives, deprived the man and beat him after forcing him to touch their feet. Police said one of the defendants also recorded videos of the bill and cited the man’s complaint. The man said he could not stand the attack and was treated in the hospital.
He then contacted the police and registered six defendants on April 13, a case under the relevant section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and SC/ST (Prevention of Abuse) Act. Police said three of them were detained.
According to the man, he intervened after being approached by the wife of a defendant to help resolve their marital dispute. However, when he went to the defendant’s residence to talk, he was “beaten”. Further investigation is underway.
