Dalits’ KVPS troops enter temples and they are discriminated against

Nalgonda:On Monday, militants from Khura Vivaksha Polata Samiti (KVPS) forced Dalit devotees to enter the country at Shivalayam monastery in Nidama Manor, after receiving complaints that the priests had been banning them from worshiping within the sanctuary.

KVPS leader Paladugu Nagarjuna said villagers reported that Dalits were only allowed to break coconuts outside Temple Mandapam and were denied the scattering of satellite rituals and vehicle puja services. He added: “Despite repeated appeals, this discrimination remains.”

During the intervention, Temple Pastor Lakshmana Sharma assured the KVPS delegation that all devotees, regardless of caste, will equally enter the temple’s internal shrine and services. KVP said it will monitor compliance and continue to advocate against caste-based exclusion in places of worship.
