Balbir Singh, secretary general of the Gurdwara Commission near Ponshi Regional Hospital, called the incident “unfortunate” and said he attended Gurdwara when the teller of Gurdwara was killed in a shooting in Pakistan.

He added: “We call on Pakistan to take appropriate measures to address these violations and to deal with the situation with serious and accountable responsibility. The armed forces have maintained a strong vigilance about the situation. They have directed strongly to deal with any duplicate instances of border violations along the international border.”

He said: “The Director General of Pakistan Military Operations (DGMO) called the Indian DGMO to the Indian DGMO at 15:35 pm this afternoon. A consensus was reached between them that both sides would cease all shooting and military operations on land and air and sea, effective from 1,700 hours of Indian Standard Time.”

He added: “Today, both sides have provided instructions to make this understanding effective. The directors of the military operations will talk again on 1200 hours on May 12.”

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar pointed out in an article on X that India will continue its firm and uncompromising position against terrorism.
