Death from diarrhea at the age of 10

A 10-year-old girl reportedly died of diarrhea in the village of Gollahatti in the Madakasira parliamentary constituency. Sources said another 23 people in the village were also affected, and 10 were taken to the hospital.
According to health officials, villagers have been using water from agricultural wells. The residents of the village are said to be located near the Karnataka border and have shown symptoms of the disease in the past four days. The first case was officially reported on Monday morning.
District Medical and Health Officer Fairoza Begum told Hindu Medical staff from the local government health center informed the 10-year-old girl of the case and suggested that her parents take her to Rolla Primary Center (PHC). However, the girl's parents visited a registered doctor and took her home. Her house is located one and a half kilometres from the village and her condition worsened when medical staff arrived at the house on Tuesday.
Her parents then took her to a private hospital one and a half kilometres away from the village, and she died.
Since then, regional medical and health officials have established a health camp in the village. “Our medical team is working around the clock and the camp will continue for the next two or three days until the situation reaches normal conditions,” DM&Ho said.
Officials collected water samples from the village for analysis. According to the DM&HO of 23 affected people, 10 were taken to the hospital, while others were considered outpatients. “Our staff go door to door to provide villagers with necessary medications and ORS. We are closely monitoring the situation.”
