Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweets launching “Operation sindoor”

The Indian Ministry of Defense said the focus of the strike was to remove terrorist infrastructure and avoid Pakistani military devices.
Action Sindor: On May 6, 2025, India launched the “Sindoor Operation” with precise strikes at 9 Pakistani locations and Pakistan-occupied Jamu and Kashmir. The terrorist infrastructure targeted by the operation was linked to the April 22 attack on Pahargam, where 26 civilians were killed.
The Indian Ministry of Defense said the focus of the strike was to remove terrorist infrastructure and avoid Pakistani military devices. Target areas include Muzaffarabad, Kotli and Bahawalpur. The strike caused explosions and power outages in Muzaffarabad.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh praised the armed forces and posted on X: “Bharat Mata ki Jai. Respect for our armed forces to decide on decisive actions against terrorism. Today, every Indian is proud.”
Pakistan denounced the strike as an “act of war” and reported the deaths of three civilians, including children, and the injuries of twelve people. The Pakistani military claimed to shoot down Indian jets twice during the choice and vowed to retaliate.
The April 22 attack on Pahargam targeted tourists in the Besalan Valley, and militants reportedly based on religion. The resistance front related to Lashkar-e-Taiba initially claimed responsibility but was later withdrawn. The investigation shows that Pakistani nationals and Pakistani intelligence agency ISI support.
In response to the Pahalgam attack, India suspended the Indian Waters Treaty, expelled Pakistani diplomats and closed its airspace to Pakistan Airlines. Pakistan retaliated by suspending visas for Indian nationals and closing their space to Indian aircraft.
