The first robotic surgical facility in Northeast China unveiled in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled on Sunday (April 13, 2025) at the first robotic surgical institution in the northeast of the State Cancer Institute at Gaohati Medical College and the hospital.
He said the robotic surgery department is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to better care for cancer care in the area, providing the right notes for the Bohag or Rongali Bihu celebrations.
“Assam started the bohag celebration by offering the first ever Onco-Robotic surgical facility in northeastern India at Guwahati Medical College. Now our government hospital will provide a low-cost, precise and most inviolable oncology surgical procedure through machinery made in India,” he dedicated it to the post-X, on machinery in India. ”
He said similar facilities are available at the medical schools in Dibrugarh in eastern Assam and Silchar in Southern Assam.
Health officials said the robotic surgical facility was established at Rs 1.499 crore under the centre’s national prevention and control plan for the prevention and control of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and stroke. The facility provides improved accuracy, excellent control and 3D visualization, resulting in better results in cancer care.
The chief minister said the state government is starting nursing colleges in all cancer hospitals to ensure enough manpower to handle high-end medical technology.
