Delhi government orders emergency preparations in hospitals; Red Cross signs to be painted on roofs

In the intensified military conflict with Pakistan, the Delhi government directed all government hospitals and sanitation facilities to strengthen emergency preparedness, including drawing a Red Cross on the roof of the hospital to indicate medical facilities in the air. These instructions were issued after the church obtained in the recent Abhyaas simulation exercise, requiring emergency steps to ensure patient care and readiness for any emergency situation. According to government officials, the hospital was directed to conduct a new mock drill for emergency preparations.
In addition, they must ensure sufficient stock of essential medicines and consumables, maintain operating generator sets with sufficient fuel backup, and confirm the full functionality of emergency services such as ICUs, oxygen supply systems and ventilators.
The hospitals have also been directed to remove leaves from major specialists, such as surgeons, orthopedics and burn care specialists, to ensure 24/7 supply of trauma.

In addition, facilities must update ICU bed and equipment data on designated ICU portals, ensure the network security of hospital websites, and maintain adequate food supply to keep canteens and chaotic services free of disruption.

The hospital head was told to monitor the preparations personally and ensure seamless coordination with the District Magistrate and Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO). The government has also directed medical institutions to prepare a spreadsheet online that can be entered in real time, and all written and WhatsApp directives will be processed first and followed as early as possible. The government stressed that disaster management plans for each hospital should be thoroughly developed, including the availability of fire extinguishers and other critical infrastructures used to deal with emergencies.

Any other action plan deemed necessary by the Medical Principal or the Medical Director will also be implemented without delay.
