Delhi HC reviews Turkish company Celebi’s request to revoke security permits on Monday

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court will hear two lawsuits from Turkish company Celebi Airport Services India PVT Ltd on Monday, another company opposes the decision of aviation watchdog BCAS, revoking its security permit in a “national security interest”.

The security clearance of these companies was revoked days after Turkey supported Pakistan and condemned India’s strike on terrorist camps in neighboring countries.

The request was filed on Friday and was listed before Justice Sachin Data on May 19.

The two petitions were submitted by Celebi Airport Services Private India and Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India Pvt Ltd.

Celebi has operated in the Indian aviation sector for more than 15 years and has employed more than 10,000 employees, serving in nine airports.

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority (BCAS) said in accordance with the order: “… the security permit of the r/o Celebi Airport Services Pvt. India Limited was immediately revoked due to the interests of national security.”

In November 2022, the company’s security permit is part of the Türkiye Celebi.

According to its website, Celebi handles about 58,000 flights and 5,40,00 tons of cargo in India each year.

It is located in Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi, Kannur, Bangalore, Goa, Hyderabad Ahmedabad and Chennai Airports.

Pakistan also used Turkish drones on a large scale in its military conflict with India.

Celebi Aviation India said in an earlier statement that it remains fully compliant with Air India, national security and tax regulations and operates in a completely transparent manner.

It rejected all charges regarding the company’s ownership and operations in India and reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the country’s aviation sector.

Delhi airport operator Dial also said it has officially ended its association with the Celebi entity responsible for ground handling and cargo operations.

Celebi Airport Services India Pvt Ltd and Celebi Delhi Cargo Terminal Management India Pvt Ltd respectively supervise ground processing and cargo terminal functions.
