SPDCL employee fixed storm losses overnight

Hyderabad: Chairman and managing director Musharraf Faruqui said Friday that Southern Discom staff restored power overnight, replacing damaged poles and transformers.

According to a statement from SPDCL, Faruqui said that from Thursday afternoon to midnight, continuous rain caused trees and branches to fall on the wires, causing poles and transformers to collapse and extensive power damage. On-site staff worked tirelessly all night to restore supply.

In Greater Hyderabad, the storm damaged 57 rods and 44 distribution transformers in multiple circles, with the largest damage being suffered in the center of Hyderabad, with 23 rods and 7 transformers affected. Other affected areas include Southern Hyderabad (15 and 11 Transformers), Secunderabad (5 Transformers), Saroornagar (3 and 14 Transformers) and Habsiguda (7, seven, seven transformers).

Faruqui noted that there has been significant improvement in the response capacity of field workers who remained on site in emergencies, supervising recovery and inspecting substations. Even though strong winds hindered the movement, the motivation recovered quickly. He urged employees to dedicate their dedication and urged them to maintain the same level of commitment in future emergencies to ensure uninterrupted service to consumers.
