Delhi – NCR Weather Update: IMD predicts rain, thunderstorms and cool days; check IMD Alerts

Weather in Delhi NCR: As the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light rain, strong winds and thunderstorms in the following days. These weather changes are expected to temporarily lower the temperature, thus easing the hot heat that has swept the area.

Delhi NCR Weather: Thunderstorms and rainwater in Delhi NCR

IMD predicts that in the next few days, starting from Sunday, May 4, Delhi will witness light rain and gusts. The maximum temperature may be in the range of 34-36°C, while the minimum temperature may hover around 25°C. The department also issued a yellow alarm for thunderstorms, accompanied by lightning strikes, during which winds reach 30-40 km/h. Cool, cloudy skies will be the norm, but thunderstorms and rainstorms will continue over the weekend to rest from the high temperatures.
While temperatures are expected to rise by 2°C on May 6, rain and thunderstorms will return on May 8, bringing more cool weather. IMD predicts that temperatures will rise again after May 15, but at the same time, Delhi residents can expect more enjoyable in the coming week.

IMD Weather Alert: Extensive Rain and Thunderstorms

IMD has also issued similar weather alerts for several other states. In western India, areas of Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat will experience heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds up to 50 km/h. “Isolated from thunderstorms, lightning and strong wind speeds, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong wind speeds reaching gusts of 30-40 km/h to 50 km/h, possibly on Gujarat, Kangkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada until May 8,” the department said.

These rainfalls are expected to reduce the temperature by 2-4°C in the affected areas, providing much-needed heat relief. In Maharashtra, the weather will also bring temporary coolness and relief to areas such as Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan.

Karnataka and Kerala will see rain until May 7

Rain is also occurring in southern states of Karnataka and Kerala. Areas in Karnataka, including Kolar, Mysuru, Hassan and Shivamogga, may experience varying degrees of rainfall by May 7. This weather pattern will lower the temperatures across the state and free people from the ruthless heat. Similarly, Kerala will witness rainfall until May 7, with cloudy skies and gusts in several areas likely.

Weather outlook for next week

Looking ahead, IMD predicted thunderstorms and storms, and until May 7, the temperature remained in the 31-36°C range. The week is expected to end with pleasant weather conditions as the sky will usually remain cloudy until the transition to partially cloudy on May 7. During thunderstorms, strong winds are expected, and the speed will increase to 30-40 km/h until May 6, but there are no predicted heatwave conditions in the upcoming week.

IMD also guarantees that there are no signs of heat waves during this period and that residents can expect a milder climate.
