Congress cited the latest report from the parliamentary education committee, which drew attention on Tuesday to “large-scale stagnation in the job market.”
The group, led by senior MP Digvijaya Singh, has been marked as an “abnormal decline” in student placement at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) (NIT) and asked the center to address the cause of the decline.
Commenting on the report, Congress Secretary-General and MP Jairam Ramesh said 22 of the 23 IITs recorded a drop in position during this period. “The decline was over 10 percentage points when it fell to 15 IITs. In 2021-22, 90.43% of B.Tech. Among the students located in IITs, students who appeared in placement locations were placed-2023-24, only 80.25% of students received jobs. Among the 25 Indian Information Technology, the Indion Indional Institutes in 20223-24 positions were reduced by 10 times. Mr Ramesh said in a statement.
He said that of 31 NITs, 27 recorded a decline in average salary packages for engineering graduates between 2022-23 and 2023-24. He added: “The average package of these institutions has dropped by more than Rs 3 lakh per year. In the same year, the number of students ranked 31 Nit also fell from 18,957 to 16,915, a 10.77 per cent decrease.”
He said IIT is the most important engineering institution in the United States, and its most competitive enrollment process attracts the best faculty and students. “In addition, engineering is considered the most sold out of all degrees. If one in five of the IIT engineers cannot find a job, then this will raise the fact that people can make about how the larger educated youth population in the country can ensure employment. In fact, the decline in positions of NITS and IIITS also points to a large enterprise market, he added,” he added. ”
He said the average salary package for engineers to graduate from NIT fell, pointing to a stagnant salary. “These location data once again prove that these crises are not only torture of informal sectors and rural populations, but also cause trouble even in our most elite educational institutions,” he said.
