The Haryana State Education Board (HSEB) X and XII exams are from regular students and Haryana Open Schools, starting a month ago in a rather bad note, the first day of the problem documents were leaked, and outsiders were crowded with mass to facilitate the emergence of mass cheating and impostors by candidates.

However, at the climax of the exam a week ago, board officials released statistics claiming this year’s exam is the “cleanest” in recent years, with the lowest number of unfair means cases (UMCs) registered since 2022.

According to statistics, only 599 UMCs were registered this year, compared with 918 in 2024; 1,813 out of 2,023 and 3,570 in 2022. In addition, this exam was cancelled in only 10 centers, while the previous year had 29 centers. In 2023, the exam was canceled at 40 centers and one year ago at 64 centers.

Munish Nagpal, who was appointed HSEB secretary on March 3, said in a report on rampant cheating replacement Ajay Chopra that the government has taken several immediate measures, such as suspension of police officers and deployment of 226 flight squads along fixed routes to curb fraud and efforts.

Mr Nagpal said: “The board has shown unprecedented rigor to curb the threat of cheating during the exam. Discipline is a disciplinary action against 135 people, including 109 supervisors and 20 center supervisors, to be responsible. As as many as 16 first information reports were raised against 74 people across the state.”

In addition, 588 observers were appointed at the Sensitive Examination Center and a node official was deployed in each area to coordinate with the board officials.

Nuh is the most backward region in Haryana, with the worst performing of the 249 largest UMCs (almost 599 cases registered in the region). Nearby Palwal recorded 62 UMCs, the second highest UMC in the state, followed by Charkhi Dadri (39) and Bhiwani (38).

Some outsiders broke into the centre at the centre of NUH and PALWAL on February 27, on the first day of the Level 12 exam, to take photos of the UK questionnaire and share them on social media platforms. On February 28, JHAJJAR and NUH leaked the Level 10 math test paper. Jhajjar also performed poorly with 26 unfair means registered at its center.

The region of the 44 National Expressway in North Haryana performed well, with no cheating cases in Ambala and Karnal, and only one UMC reported in Kurukshetra during the one-month exam. More than 500,000 students have appeared in 1,434 examination centers across the state.
