Chennai: The Chennai Super King was hit hard on Thursday as regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was excluded from the IPL due to an elbow injury, a development that brought Mahendra Singh Dhoni back to leadership.
CSK head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed the development.
“Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out IPL with a fractured IPL in his elbow,” Fleming told media sources on Thursday.
Gaikwad was hit when he was hit by a short ball from Jofra Archer.
