DGP urges SHO to improve performance and judicial delivery

Hyderabad: Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. Jitender, in a meeting with statewide station House officials (SHOS) on Saturday, urging them to focus on improving performance and work to deliver justice to victims with clear goals.
DGP shared his journey, recalling his decision to join the IP after consulting with several people, many of whom objected to his choice of IPS. Reflecting on his 33 years of service, he takes pride in becoming a member of the country’s No. 1 police station.
Telangana’s achievements are attributed to its performance in 32 key metrics such as training, infrastructure and operational standards. Jitender acknowledged the collective efforts made by police across the state to do so.
Emphasizing the importance of maintaining this honor, Dr. Jitender stressed that SHOS must play a role in improving efficiency and discipline. He stressed the need for officials to handle complaints with sensitivity, conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice to the victims. “Any failed justice will destroy the reputation of the department,” he warned.
To monitor performance, QR codes have been introduced in all police departments and the department is actively evaluating its effectiveness. He also urged officers to be familiar with the Crime and Crime Tracking Networks and Systems (CCTN). DGP encourages self-reflection and recommends Shos seek honest feedback from family and peers, urging them to aligne with public expectations and strive for excellence.
Other DGPs (Law and Order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat pointed out in his speech that the mistakes of lower-level personnel often cause difficulties for superior officials. He stressed the importance of building a good reputation in the department and in the public. Mahesh also reminded officers of the privilege pay scale and urged them to avoid corrupt practices, thus undermining the image of the police force.
