Did Poorva Choudhary, who gets Air 533 in UPSC 2024 abuse OBC quotas? Her Russ official father reacts

After UPSC announced the results, some users noticed that the Podva name listed “OBC”. So, considering her current position, the user began to question her qualifications.
Poorva Choudhary, who won the AIR 533 car in UPSC 2024, has been on the receiving end of several social media users because they lack other backward class (OBC) non-ice cream layer (NCL) quotas. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently announced the Civil Service Examination (CSE) 2024 results, in which Podva received the All India Level (AIR) 533 in the written test with a score of 771 and 165 in the personality test. Overall, she scored a total of 936 points.
Now, her father, Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) official Omprakash Saharan, has responded to her allegations of OBC Non-Ice Cream Layer (NCL) quota. He strongly dismissed these claims, saying people simply don’t understand how the rules work. “If RAS is recruited directly before 40, the OBC NCL benefits are not applicable. I became a RAS official at 44. So the claim that my daughter abuses the certificate is totally untrue,” he told India today. He is currently appointed as a collector in other regions in Kotputli.
Sahalan added that the same rule applies to promotion or appointments for Level I roles; if completed before the age of 40, the child is not eligible for the OBC NCL. “That's not my case,” he clarified, adding: “People follow the herd mentality. UPSC is a popular topic now and many people use it to gain opinions and followers.”

After UPSC announced the results, some users noticed the “OBC” listed on the Podva's name in the official results. So, considering her current position, the user began to question her qualifications. Some users claim that now-deleted posts from Podva profiles indicate a luxurious lifestyle, which raises more questions about qualifications. According to government regulations, if the household income (excluding agricultural income) does not exceed Rs 8 lakh per year, then the Group A officials promoted after the age of 40 will still be eligible for booking benefits.
