G. Bhanuprakash Reddy, a member of the Trust Committee of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and a spokesman for the BJP State, has filed a police complaint against the former chairman of the TTD Trust Committee Bhumana Karunakar, for defamation of the world-renowned institution.
Leading a delegation of political parties, he submitted a copy of the complaint to the principal of police officer V. Harshavardhan Raju in his room here on Tuesday (April 15). In the complaint, he accused Mr. Karunakar Reddy of making statements about the dairy farm at a media conference. He also accused him of misleading the media and engaging in false propaganda about the institutions he led in the past.
“The photos shown in the publication have nothing to do with TTD’s Goshala, they are made just to destroy the image of TTD,” he said.
Mr Bhanuprakash Reddy noted that dairy farms provided milk, curd and ghee for use in temple rituals in Tirumala, and thus slandering such institutions hurt the view of Hindus.
Since electronic and social media are also used to spread “baseless charges”, he called it a crime under Article 74 of the Information Technology Act 2000 and Article 356 of Bharatiya Nyaya Samhitha (BNS), and therefore asked the department to initiate appropriate actions against him.
