Discuss cooperation in the field of “technology, innovation” in Starlink Buzz, PM Modi, Elon Musk | Indian News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Friday he spoke with Elon Musk, senior adviser to the U.S. president and CEO of the tech giant. The two leaders discussed various issues and the potential of “technology and innovation collaboration.”

PM Modi said in a post about Musk-owned social platform X that India is committed to building partnerships with the United States in the areas of technology and innovation.

“I spoke with Elon Musk and talked about various issues, including topics that we covered at our meeting in Washington, D.C. earlier this year. We discussed the potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to building partnerships with us and the United States in these areas.”

Here’s a story about Starlink – a satellite-based internet service provider company – that could enter India.

Senior executives at Starlink, a satellite communications company of Elon Musk, met with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Telecommunications officials to outline the company’s vision to expand its business in India.

The delegation included Starlink’s Vice President Chad Gibbs and Senior Director Ryan Goodnight. According to Goyal, the discussion focused on Starlink’s advanced technology platform, current collaboration and its future investment roadmap in India.

The meeting was also attended by senior representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Telecommunications, responsible for telecommunications-related matters.

According to a report by the Times of India, Starlink talks about the concerns of the Indian government (mainly the issue raised by the Ministry of Home Affairs) to support national security. The company has been seeking regulatory approval for the launch of its satellite communications service in India for the past two to three years. However, progress has been greatly hampered by unresolved security-related issues.
