Dismissal of Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will hurt the dollar and U.S. economy: France

Paris: French Treasury Secretary Eric Lombard warned that President Donald Trump will put the credibility of the dollar on this line and destabilize the U.S. economy.

“Donald Trump has hurt the credibility of the dollar for a long time,” Lombard said in an interview published in the La Tribune dimanche newspaper. If Powell is launched, “this credibility will be even more damaged as the bond market develops.”

Lombard said the result will be the cost of repaying debts for debts and the cost of “serious chaos to the national economy”, adding that the consequences will allow the U.S. to end the tension sooner or later.
Lombard’s comments were posted on Trump, frustrated by Powell’s warning of lowering U.S. interest rates, posted on social media that Powell’s “fire is not fast enough.” It is unclear whether he is going to fire Powell or is eager to end his term in May 2026. National Economic Commission Director Kevin Hassett said Friday that Trump was studying whether he could fire him.

President Emmanuel Macron opposes Trump’s sanctuary on a range of issues, including Ukraine, trade, and even provides refuge for American scientists in France, whose federal research funding has been cut.
