India realizes that our students are notified when we get F-1 visa

New Delhi:The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India (MEA) said on Thursday it was “aware” that several Indian students in the United States had received notifications about their F-1 visa status and that the Indian mission there was providing assistance. The remarks are about U.S. reports of crackdowns on foreign students accused of supporting Hamas or joining the Pro-Palestinian campus protests. At least two Indian students faced action last month, one of whom joined a federal lawsuit to restore immigration status.
“Our embassy and consulate have maintained the necessary support with students to expand the necessary support,” MEA spokesman Randhir Jaiswal told reporters.
The announcement comes on the first official visit by US Vice President JD Vance to India from April 21 to 24. In the Second Lady Usha Vance, their children and senior officials, the Vice President will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 21 to hold an additional engagement in Delhi and visit Jaipur and Agra before returning to Washington.
According to the MEA, the discussion will review the progress of the commitments outlined in the India-U.S. joint statement and cover regional and global developments.
