CM says WAQF protests are not allowed after clashes among Assam police protesters

Guwahati: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the government would not allow protests on the streets against the WAQF bill, following protesters in Berenga district in Silchar Town clashed with Assam police.
“There are some support and opposition to the bill. All Assam minority student unions must support the bill, just as the state government moved the Supreme Court on Monday,” the chief minister said on Tuesday.
Assam declares mandatory for all official work in the state
The governor of Assam directed that the Assams should be used as the official language of the state, and the local languages can be used for official purposes in the Barak Valley, mountainous areas and Bodoland territory.
The order states that Assams should be used for compulsory in all official works.
The order states that all government notices, office memorandums, bills, rules, regulations, planning guidelines, transfers and issuance of orders shall be in English and Assam.
