“Don’t go to these regions…”: Bangladesh travel consultation with stricter US issues | World News

The United States reissued in travel consultation in Bangladesh, with civil unrest, crime and terrorism as reasons.
The consultation was released on Friday and directed citizens to reconsider their trip to Bangladesh, noting the increased risks in some areas, adding that civil unrest and conflict have calmed down since 2024 as the interim government of Bangladesh has formed.
Bangladesh – Level 3: “Rethinking Travel”
The consultation said occasional protests continue “potential violent conflict” and directed citizens to avoid all gatherings because they could turn into violence.
It reads: “Remind American citizens to avoid all gatherings, even peaceful gatherings, because they have little or no warning.”
The recommendation said that Bangladesh has a risk of “terrorist violence” due to travel restrictions and other reasons, and that the U.S. government may have “limited capacity” to provide emergency services to its citizens in Bangladesh, especially outside Dhaka.

“Level 4: Don’t Travel” issued by Chittagong Mountain Area
The U.S. Consulting calls Chittagong Mountain Areas “Level 4: Don’t Travel” and directs not to go to these areas for any reason.
The consultation said: “The Khagrachari, Rangamati and Bandarban Hill areas (collectively referred to as the Chittagong Hill area) experience occasional community violence, crime, terrorism, kidnapping and other security risks.”
It added: “Secessionist organizations and political violence also pose more threats to visitors in the region, and there are examples of IED explosions and active shootings.”
