Don’t rush home and stay in a safer place: J&K police arrive at border village residents

Authorities in Jamm and Kashmir asked residents of border villages on Sunday that in light of the cross-border shelling in Pakistan, they evacuated to safer places rather than rushing to return home as they have not sanitized and removed any unexplored shells. More than 125,000 residents of villages close to the control line in the Baramulla, Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara areas have been evacuated to safer places because their residence is at a high risk of Pakistan shelling. “Don’t go back to the front-line villages. Life is at risk due to undeveloped ammunition (dispersed) after Pakistan shelling,” a consultation from the police said.
It said the bomb disposal squad will be dispatched to affected areas to disinfect and remove any undeveloped shells, which could lead to the loss of human life.

“In 2023 alone, as many as 41 lives were lost in the remaining shell explosions near the LOC,” the consultation said.
