Visakhapatnam: A nine-month-old pregnant woman was strangled to death by her husband under restrictions at the PM Palem police station in Visakhapatnam on Monday morning.
Anusha (27) of the deceased was a native of Adduroad in the Anakapalli area, and the defendant Gnaneshwar (28) was a resident of Vizag City Duvvada Local. Two years ago, they got married after a proposal. Anusa’s parents opposed the union.
The couple runs a fast food restaurant in the city. Anusha’s relatives said she should give birth within a few days.
Gnaneshwar reportedly called Anusha’s family and friends on Monday morning and told them she was in a coma. She was taken to the hospital by relatives and was pronounced dead.
The family suspected that Gnaneshwar had murdered Anusha and went to the police. During the trial, Gnaneshwar admitted to the murder that he fought with her.
PEM PALEM police have registered against Gnaneshwar and are investigating. The body was transferred to KG Hospital for autopsy.
