Did you know that the Indian Premier League has the motto of the trophy in Sanskrit?

The prestigious IPL trophy is reminiscent of the iconic 1983 World Cup trophy, which contains Sanskrit quotes elegantly carved in Sanskrit near the Indian outline.

Each year, top cricketers from around the world compete in the highly anticipated IPL match that lasts about two months. The original eight teams tournament added ten teams by 2022, plus the Gujarat Giants and Lucknow Super Giants. This lucrative competition not only fills the pockets of many players, especially those from India, but also provides them with a platform to quickly get into the national team.

The first IPL presents the map of India and the trophy in the batsman’s action with unique design. However, the design was later updated to resemble the trophy from the 1983 World Cup and was engraved in Sanskrit. “Yatra Pratibha Avsara Prapnotihi” sits proudly on the trophy on the map of India.

An IPL official who closely observed the evolution of the trophy said the inclusion of the offer was to emphasize the theme of competition.

“If you translate, Quote “Yatra Pratibha Avsara Prapnotihi” means ‘where to have a chance’, the official said.

“Nothing was taken away from domestic games and they were very important, but a good IPL performance adds the value of the players’ stock and draws attention. That’s why IPL is why talent encounters opportunities, and trophys echoes the theme,” the official added.

It is interesting to note that the IPL trophy is not reserved by the winning captain or team. Instead, after the speech, it can be traced back to the cricket control committee in India (BCCI), and the winning team will receive a copy to celebrate their victory.

Also, they won’t make new IPL trophys every year. They use the same game, adding the title team’s name after each final. The new design only works when there is no space for more new names.

As for the game schedule, the league stage will be held from March 22 to May 18, followed by the playoffs from May 20 to May 25. The competition will be held in 13 different venues and they plan to play 12 double-headed matches throughout the competition.
