A tense moment occurred Sunday night as a busy Attapur stretch of the busy PVNR highway, when a man allegedly climbed the overpass and slipped under the influence of alcohol, lifting him out of the tangle of a bunch of overhead internet cables. The dramatic scene takes place around 5 p.m. between 99 and 100 pillar numbers, attracting the attention of motorists, shop owners and pedestrians in the area.

Locals acted quickly as the man hung a few feet above the ground. Two car decoration and accessories stores on both sides of the road play a key role in the rescue. Staff at both stores, as well as passers-by, were eager to pull out the body cover – a large flake sheet that is often used to protect the vehicle – and quickly spread it underneath to mitigate the fall.

In the video of the incident shot by locals, the man can be seen hanging with a tangled cable. The car can be seen stopping in the middle of the road, and a person quickly joined the group holding the sheets.

“We saw him slipping on a cable under the highway. He just hung there. The overpass was at least 20 feet high and he could have fallen directly onto the road. He immediately grabbed a car under him and reached out from the nearby shop. Alcohol was smelled on him.”

Although the incident did not end in injury, confusion about police jurisdiction remained. Officials at nearby stations – Attapur, Rajendranagar, Gudimalkapur and Langer Houz – all claimed the incident happened beyond their respective restrictions and there was no further clarity on the case.
