Shivamogga

Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (DSS), founded by B. Krishnappa, has decided to hold a conference in Bangalore on May 8 with the theme of opposing communism and protecting Mark Br Ambedkar's 134th birth anniversary.

DSS state president M. Gurumurthy said at a press conference in Shivamogga on Saturday that the public forces have been trying to replace the constitution drafted by Dr. Ambedkar. Recently, a group of prophets from Kumbh Mela announced that they had drafted another constitution. Likewise, the prophets representing influential communities favored a constitution that fits their ideology. He said that even in the past, when Dr. Ambedkar introduced the Constitution, the founder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha was opposed.

“These developments show that public forces are working to replace the Constitution with a constitution that is in line with their agenda. We oppose this effort. The Convention is directed to community forces and protects the Constitution.”

He added that people from different parts of the state will attend the conference, which will be held at Dr. BR Ambedkar Bhavan, Bangalore.

DSS State Executive Committee member Shivabasappa Bhadravathi said that through the convention, the group will require the state government to hold the plan on June 9 to mark Professor Krishnappa's birth anniversary without declaring it as a holiday and to commemorate his contribution by expanding him to his Karnataka Ratna title.

The organization will urge the government to remove Article 7(c) SCST/TSP Act to avoid abuse of funds used for pre-determined caste and pre-determined tribal welfare. He added that, the government should provide Rs 6 lakh subsidy to households without houses.
