Easter | Beach artists recreate biblical scenes into Bolivian dunes on Good Friday – Economic Times Video

Artists gather in Oruro, Bolivia to create a large Easter sand sculpture that depicts off-road scenes on Good Friday (April 18). Good Friday leads to Easter Sunday, the most important and joyful date in the church’s liturgical calendar – commemorating the day when Christians believed in Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. In the west of the country, the dunes became a huge canvas for nearly 200 Argentine, Peruvian and Bolivian artists who recreated the way of biblical passages and off-road stations. From the moment when Roman Governor Pontius Pilate condemned Jesus for death until the moment he was buried in the grave, the way of the cross marked 14 events, called the station. The festival will run on the 19th edition and is an annual tradition that attracts a large number of people to marvel at the creation of sand.
