Ed arrests 5-star hotel in Delhi

New Delhi: The Enforcement Bureau said on Monday it had arrested former Haryana Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhoker for arresting a brief melee from a five-star hotel in Delhi, following a brief melee, defrauding more than 1,500 residences and defrauding more than Rs 5,000 crore in funds from them.
Chokar, 61, was detained at the “Grapa Bar” at the Shangri-La Hotel in central Delhi, shortly after 9pm on Sunday.
After the intelligence investment, central financial institutions attended the hotel bar with some people after receiving the intelligence investment around 8.30 pm on Sunday.
They said an agency official quickly issued seven unbailable warrants under seven unbailable arrest warrants, in addition to the offender notice announced in particular by the Grugram Special PMLA Court.
Chhoker started rushing to the exit when facing the ED officer, but the official, along with Ed Gurugram Zone co-director Navaneet Aggarwal, also attended the hotel, where he chased the former MLA and pinned it down.
They accused Chhoker of attempting to attack ED officials and hotel staff even when surrounding security personnel were summoned.
They said Ed called the local police and arrived soon after defeating the police officers and Chok was taken to the ED headquarters in Delhi, where he was on Monday in a court in Gurugram.
Last year, the former MLA from the Samalkha parliamentary seat in Panipat district lost the Haryana parliament poll last year.
Chhoker, his son Vikas Chhoker, also absconded, Sikandar Chhoker faces allegations of cheating, “more than 1,500 home buyers and received Rs 5,000 crore from them.
Sikandar was arrested by ED last year and he is currently released on bail.
A Special Preventive Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court has issued several non-bailable warrants against Dharam Singh Chhoker and Vikas Chhoker. Ed said in March that the agency had issued an announcement to them and directed them to appear in court on May 19.
The money laundering case comes from the Gurugram police station targeting Sai Aaina Farms and United Corporation.
