LB Nagar Mla D. Sudheer Reddy was booked for allegedly derogatory remarks in caste, which was against Hasthinapuram Corporator Banoth Sujatha during media interactions.
According to a complaint by LB Nagar Inspector K. Vinod Kumar, a case was booked under SC/ST (Prevention of Abuse) of 1989 and Article 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complainant claimed that Mr. Sudheer Reddy made offensive remarks to her while addressing the media on March 17. She said the comments were intended to insult her modesty and to humiliate her in public.
Ms. Sujatha, who belongs to the Lambada community, claimed that the remarks were not only degraded, but also harmful to her family and community. She further claimed that Mr. Sudheer Reddy had previously insulted her on caste ground.
Further investigations are underway on the matter.
