ED issues notice to possess assets worth Rs 661 in cases related to Congress and Congress-related journals Limited

The Enforcement Bureau said on Saturday that it had issued a notice to occupy Rs 6.66 crore worth of real estate assets, which had been investigated with relevant Journals Limited (AJL) controlled by Congress. The Federal Investigation Agency said in a statement that it had posted the notices at the Pioneer House in Delhi, the premises in the Bandra area of Mumbai and the AJL building on Bisheshwar Nath Road in Lucknow.

These notices seek holiday or rent transfer of the home (if it is a Mumbai asset).

The lawsuit has been discussed under Article (8) and Rules 5 (1) of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA), which talks about the procedures for possessing assets attached to ED and recognized by the PMLA.
The assets of these real estates were attached by ED in November 2023.

The money laundering ED case is targeting AJL and young Indians.

The National Herald is published by AJL and owned by the young Indian Private Limited. Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are majority shareholders of the young Indians, each holding 38% of the shares. “The young Indian and AJL property was used to generate further criminal proceeds in the form of a forged donation in the form of Rs 1.8 crore, with the forged advance rent reaching Rs 3.8 crore and forged fake ads of Rs 29 crore,” ED said.
