Former Chief Minister and coordinator of the ADMK Workers Rights Search Committee, O. Panneerselvam said on Sunday (16 March 2025) that all Indian Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leaders should stand out and win their own self and reunite in the 2026 parliamentary elections.

Speaking to reporters in Vaniyambadi town, Mr Panneerselvam said that if there is any intention to bring back the AIADMK rule in 2026, the party leaders should give up their own self and reunite to lead the party to victory. This is what people in the state and what AIADMK cadres think.

“The AIADMK was formed with strong support from the masses. The party made history by implementing a large number of welfare programs for various parts of society. Such parties are still divided now. This should end,” he said.

Asked about the Rs 10,000 crore scam from Tasmac discovered by the Enforcement Authority (ED), he said there was a system during the reign of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa when the periodic revenue of TAMSAC would contribute to the state’s total revenue. In turn, these funds are used to implement multiple welfare programs for women and the poor. However, during the DMK rules, TAMSAC revenue was transferred to various sources rather than government vaults.

Mr. Panneerselvam declined to comment on the disagreement between senior AIADMK leader and former Minister S. Sengottaiyan and Party General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. “I have nothing to say. Only they can explain the problem,” he said.
