Electronic bicycles catch fire in Vaniyambadi town

A 37-year-old leather businessman caught fire on the balcony of his home on Friday under municipal restrictions in Vaniyambadi in Tirupattur, and his electric scooter caught fire on the balcony of his house. Police say leather businessman Mohammed Munir bought a new e-bike a few months ago. After completing regular service of the vehicle, Munir returned to his house on an electronic bike. He then plugged in his bike to recharge his house’s balcony. After a while, he noticed the smoke from the bike coming out of the bike and the fire broke out. Immediately, the fire engulfed the entire vehicle. Residents and neighbors tried to put out the fire, but they couldn’t do it. They reminded Vaniyambadi town police and firefighters that they put out the fire in nearly half an hour. Police said the electrical short circuit could be the cause of the incident. They also said that charging the vehicle for a long time could cause a fire as the vehicle has just returned from a full overhaul that was underway at the service center.
