Elephant assaults victim’s family allegations of neglect

The Kali family, an elderly tribe who died in an elephant attack in Attappady on Sunday, allegedly ignored the medical assistance given to him by authorities.

Kali was killed when Swarnagadha Unnathi Hamlet was attacked by two elephants. Relative Murukan, who was with him at the time of the attack, said the seriously injured Kali lay in the forest for three hours before being transferred to the hospital.

He claimed that the tribe promoter did not participate in the phone when he desperately tried to seek help.

Kali and Vishnu walked into the forest on Sunday morning to collect firewood. Vishnu said they were attacked by two elephants. Kali was unable to do so when Vishnu ran for cover.
