Elon Musk offers 80-90 times faster in India’s Starlink than rivals Jio-SES and OneWeb: What can users expect?

Billionaire Elon Musk’s Starlink Satellite can provide connectivity to several data in data across India. According to a report from the Times of India, people are citing awareness of the development and therefore the necessary infrastructure has been established and the company is awaiting regulatory approval.

The Starlink satellite is expected to have a much higher capacity, nearly 80-90 times higher than competitors Eutelsat OneWeb or Reliance Jio-SES, and currently offers 30-50 gigabits (Gbps).

After obtaining regulatory approval, industry experts estimate that Starlink will serve retail and corporate customers across the country.

Eutelsat-oneweb and Jio-SE have obtained all necessary regulatory approvals and are awaiting spectrum allocation. In contrast, Starlink has to nod from the Ministry of Telecommunications (DOT) and the National Center for Space Promotion and Authorization (Space).

Starlink has submitted the required documents to space and obtained a satellite license through DOT, but there are still some problems. The company has agreed to establish a monitoring center in India and avoid routing data through gateways in countries that share land boundaries with India.

Starlink Gateway

Starlink plans to build three portals in three cities in India – Mumbai, Pune and Indor.

These gateways will connect satellite and ground communication networks to transmit data between the two systems.

India’s non-degraft orbit (NGSO) satellite currently offers nearly 70 Gbps of capacity, while the geostationary orbit (GSO) satellite provides about 58 Gbps.

Meanwhile, India’s telecom giants Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have teamed up with Starlink to distribute their equipment and services.

Eutelsat-oneweb has established portal facilities in Mehsana, Gujarat and Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu and has nearly 636 low-Earth orbit satellites.

Currently, Starlink provides global satellite communications services through its 4,400 first-generation satellites and 2,500-second second-generation satellites. The company led by Elon Musk plans to expand to a second-generation satellite in 30,000 seconds in the next few years.
