IAF Jaguar Jet crashes near Jamnagar and a pilot is killed

Ahmedabad: The Indian Air Force has ordered an investigation into the crash of a Jaguar fighter in a village near Jamnagar IAF station in Gujarat, one of which was killed and another injured. In a statement Thursday morning, the IAF said the pilot on the night mission had experienced a “technical failure” on the plane before the crash on Wednesday night.
“Two IAF Jaguar aircraft at Jamnagar Airfield crashed during a night mission. The pilot faced technical failure and launched a catapult, avoiding harm to the airport and the local population,” the statement said.
“Unfortunately, one pilot succumbed to his injuries while another was receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Jamnagar. The IAF regretted deeply that life was lost and stood firmly with the family of the deceased. The cause of the accident has been determined, adding.
Police earlier said the fighter crashed and caught fire at an open field in Suvarda village, 12 km from Jamnagar city, police said. When police found a pilot in injury at the scene, the search was to find the second pilot, the second pilot who disappeared after the crash.
He said the injured pilot was then taken to the GG hospital operated by the city government. After the incident, regional collector Ketan Thakkar also arrived at the scene. After the crash, the fire engulfed the open space and was later flooded by firefighters.
