Ensure there is no shortage of drinking water in the summer: Minister Bharat

Kurnur: Industry and Commerce Minister TG Bharath on Sunday directed officials to ensure there is no shortage of drinking water in the Kurnore region in the subsequent summer.

He spoke at the Zilla Parishad General Tody conference chaired by ZP Chairman Y. Papireddy.

During the meeting, Bharath was concerned about leaks in many overhead storage tanks. He asked the rural water supply commander if the engineer had inspected the tank.

Kurnool MP Bastipati Nagaraju highlighted the severe water shortage in the western part of the Kurnool district. He said Rs 600 crore had been allocated from MP funds to resolve the water crisis in Kodumuru and Aluru constituencies. He noted that three TMCs from Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) are being assigned to the Gajuladinne Project at the Alarudinne Bridge near Aspari. He proposed that installing the pipeline from this point would address the acute water shortage in the villages of Hattekal, Puppala Doddi and Billekallu.

Zilla Parishad Chairman Papireddy suggested using Gram Panchayat funds to address the village’s water shortage. If these are insufficient, officials can use Mandal Parish funds. He stressed the need to build reservoirs in the area to effectively utilize the Krishna River water.

Those who participated in the meeting included Panyam MLA Gowru Charitha Reddy, Aluru MLA B. Virupakshi, Nandikotkur MLA G. Jayasurya, district collector P. Ranjit Basha, Nandyal district collector G. Rajakumari, assistant collector Challa Kalyani and Kurnool Zilla Parishad CEO Nasara Reddy.
