SIT investigates suicide case prosecuting CID officials

The investigation report was submitted to the High Court by the Special Investigation Team, accusing Kanakalakshmi, deputy director of the Police Department of the Criminal Investigation Department, of alleged fraud in the investigation that led to the death of Jeeva, the defense lawyer of the Bhovi Corporation Comparation scam. The official was booked for suicide earlier.

The team, composed by the High Court in December last year, includes CBI SP Vinayak Verma, DCPS Hakay Akshay Machindra and Nisha James, investigated the case in detail and filed a report, which the court appreciated.

The HC said in order: “The details of the report indicate that the SIT has done a commendable work in implementing the orders/instructions for fair investigations”. The court also pointed out that appreciation should not be mistaken for the advantages of investigation, but for how to conduct the investigation.

The deceased Jeeva, one of the defendants in the Bowie company scam, ended her life on November 21, 2024, leaving behind a 13-page note, accusing Kanakalakshmi, dysp, dysp, cid, forcing her to undress during the interrogation, undress during the interrogation, harass her, and demanding 25 lakh bribe. She even filed a complaint with the High Court 10 days before taking extreme measures. After the death of the court, the court held a strong exception and formed a situation of officials from state and central agencies, its earliest officials.

According to reports, the SIT investigation found that, except for allegations of corruption, most of the charges were filed against the deceased in a death note to be confirmed. The investigation allegedly showed that the investigation was handled inappropriately despite the High Court order that the records of the investigation, including those of CCTV cameras, were not maintained. The SIT report said defendant official Kanakalakshmi covered up the records and created the documents. Sources said the video and sound recordings of the investigation have not been conducted in sequence and SIT must seek FSL’s help to analyze the same report and submit it. Sitting on March 11, the defendants arrested the defendants based on the findings.

SIT is awaiting sanctions from the state government, bringing charges against Ms. Kanakalakshmi against the judiciary.
