An inclusive program as an alternative to Vishwakarma

Chennai: Kalaignar Kaivinai Thittam (Kalaignar Handicrafts Scheme), the State Government’s answer to the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Yojana, was unveiled by Chief Minister MK Stalin, who described the State initiative as one aimed at improving the socio-economic status of those practicing 25 traditional crafts by adhering to lofty principles like social justice, equal rights and human rights.
Stalin, who launched the program at a government event held in Kundrathur in Kanchipuram district on Saturday, explained that the formulation of Galyanar Kavinai Setam (KKT) was rejected by the coalition government as the state government rejected the changes recommended by Vishwakarma Yojana introduced in 2023 for 2023, which was launched for 2023.
Explaining the idea behind the recommendation change, he said that Vishwakarma plans to set its maximum age for applying for benefits at 18, which is a trade that the person should be willing to study a lot of work rather than engaging in the craftsman’s trade. Therefore, KKT raises the age limit to 35 because aspiring people can decide their careers as they get older.
Among the 25 transactions listed in KKT include woodworking, shipbuilding, metal work, locking, sculpture, glass work, pottery, pottery, construction engineering, basket manufacturing, manufacturing and mat weaving, anyone with five years of experience in trading can apply this experience, regardless of their family can do anything in trade for generations.
Stalin said that when the country’s former prime minister Rajaji tried to introduce a plan called “Kulakalvi Thittam”, in the presidency of Madras, the leaders of the Delavinia movement opposed it because it deprived children of opportunities to obtain other areas from their parents’ traditional careers and explored other areas.
Vishwarkarma Yogna also aims to advance the parents’ industry by pushing 18-year-olds forward without allowing them to learn further and find jobs elsewhere, he said, adding that under KKT, aspirants can engage in traditional transactions only if they explore opportunities in the job market and gain academic qualifications from educational institutions.
Another change the state government wants to make in Vishwakarma Yojana, he said, was the removal of the clause that applicants should come from families who have traditionally engaged in trade, meaning that they belong to the caste associated with the craft.
He said that since such qualifications would constitute a continuation of the caste system, the state government urged to be removed from office in vain but proposed the KKT, he said, no matter the profession of parents and family members, any trade could be practiced.
Another objection from the state government is that the Vishawarma beneficiaries will be certified as qualified candidates by President Panchayat. He said the request to delegate certification to village administrative officials was completely rejected, although the recommendations were written to the MSMES Alliance Minister.
The state government will be implemented by the state MSME department to be inclusive and target growth everywhere. Stalin marked his press conference, distributing loan approval orders to 8,951 beneficiaries for Rs 1,700 crore. The beneficiaries will also receive a subsidy worth Rs 3.4 billion.
Stalin also said Tamil Nadu has 3.3 million MSME units, accounting for 9.4% of the country’s total units. In the ranking, Tamil Nadu has the third place in the largest MSME.
